The sunset over a barren horizon in the background.  This is part of a private collection. It is a pencil drawing completed for my grandmother in 1998. I thought it would be a special addition to this portfolio. |  24" x 18" oil painting. This piece has some symbolic significance. The young woman is standing at this large window looking out at the warm light of dusk on the world outside. She is contemplating the freedom on the other side of the glass. She is slightly transparent to symbolize that her departure has already begun.  This is an upcycled bench done in a French Country style. I took an ugly 1970s era sideboard, removed the doors and cut it down to a comfortable sitting height. I added appliques. Then painted it in Paris Grey "Annie Sloan" chalk paint. I gilded the appliques. Then finished the whole thing off with chalk paint wax and antiqued it.
